Skilled writers demand more interesting projects and positions, particularly if they are a recognized specialist in their chosen topic area.

For most writers, being able to write about any topic means more money in the bank. It doesn't matter if they are writing about science, history, people, or geography, if they can write about it all, the more jobs they can do. But, in truth, when a writer can tout themselves as an expert in a specific area, the jobs that flow in will be more detailed, and pay a lot more.

Expert writers are in high demand in almost every genre and field that a writer can possibly imagine. And, becoming an expert is a lot easier than most writers believe it is. It no longer takes decades of writing over one area, hundreds of college credit hours, or many degrees in one area to become an expert writer. It simply takes drive, research, and creativity.

To start on the path to becoming an expert writer, first an author must decide which field they truly love. Science? History? Politics? There are thousands of non-fiction areas that a writer can choose, and in each of those areas, there are subcategories that a writer must also weed through to get a firm grasp on the expert status that they long for. For example, if a writer decides that they prefer history over the other major categories, they must then decide which area of history they prefer. Maybe they care for the Greek or Roman times, or maybe they prefer the American Civil War, no matter which area of history they like the best, that is the one area that they should choose and stick with.

Once a writer decides on an area that they prefer, the next step is to begin researching everything possible about that area. With the massive information that can be found online today, a writer can find any information that they would like to know about without leaving their home. Find all the information that is available on the chosen subject and read it. While it may not be possible to read everything out there, make sure that credible sources are chosen to begin to form a stance on that area of thought. A good expert writer will know more than the average writer about a certain subject and they will have done the research and formed a base of information to back up their claims.

After the research is done, then the writer needs to start getting noticed. There are millions of sites out there that allow writers to post information, articles, and other written pieces simply to get their name and ideas out into the world. To become a true expert in a field, a writer needs to find the best of those sites and start becoming a constant sight there. By posting a ton of information with their name attached, a writer can easily begin to identify themselves as an expert in that area and other people will begin to recognize their name. While this is actually the step that takes the longest, it is also the most important one. Make sure that information is posted daily, even if it has to be written before and set to publish a few days later. By keeping a constant presence in that area, more and more people will see the writer's name and begin to recognize them as an expert.

The writer will know that they are achieving an expert status when they begin to receive emails, calls, and other information from people needing their help, needing information, and much more. When these things start to come in, it is exciting to know that the work that was done finally paid off. So, with a little elbow grease and some brain power, it isn't hard for any writer to become an expert in any field.
