» debebel - James Frey's Impact on Nonfiction

Having completed my first nonfiction work, I'm looking for an agent. I recently received a rejection from a very reputable agent who said "there is much to admire in your work" but that "in the 'true story' arena folks are gun-shy in a post-MILLION LITTLE PIECES world". This is regretable. How can a new writer overcome such negativity - yet Frey continues to write and be published.
