» LitAgent - James Frey's Impact on Nonfiction

In response to James Frey's Impact on Nonfiction posted by debebel:
Hi, debebel!

Yes, things have gotten tougher, but that is not all bad. We needed to tighten up a bit, as I'll be explaining in a future article. To overcome market resistance, you need an agent who is very committed to you and your work. To get an agent, your material needs to be very compelling and of national interest. Memoirs, bios and autobiographies continue to be of interest to the book-buying public. If your early efforts don't find a home, put them aside for a while and continue writing new proposals. After something has sold, you can go back to those things that haven't and reconsider them.

Best wishes!
