» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Platform

Based on what I see in the publishing world, an aspiring nonfiction writer better have a national platform. If not, then wannabe nonfiction author will remain a wannabe - unless he self-publishes or hooks up with a small, niche press.

So, how does one get a platform?

I've read the standard, online advice about writing articles, blogging, etc. But even THAT is difficult. I have a site here at the Suite for example - including a blog since I'm a Feature Writer. Not many hits. Certainly not enough to even remotely impress a publisher or agent.

What's an aspiring book author like me to do?
